ATLANTA – (Jan 9, 2008) – Saint Joseph’s Hospital has been designated a UnitedHealth Premium Surgical Spine and Total Joint Replacement Specialty Center for 2007 – 2009. Saint Joseph’s previously earned designation as a UnitedHealth Premium Cardiac Specialty Center in 2006.
“These designation support Saint Joseph’s rigorous quality standards and criteria,” says Kirk Wilson, president and CEO of Saint Joseph’s Health System. “The designations allow our patients to feel confident that they are receiving the most conscientious, reliable cardiac, total joint replacement and surgical spine care based on nationally-recognized medical standards and experience.”
Saint Joseph’s is the only hospital in Atlanta to be included in the top 50 hospitals in the nation and is recognized as among the top five percent of hospitals in the country for total joint and spine procedures.
UnitedHealthcare developed the UnitedHealth Premium Specialty Center designation program in 2004 to provide its members information about, and access to, specialty care, including cardiac and orthopaedics. Criteria include breadth and depth of care, staff, experience, emergency care, quality and outcomes reporting.
