Founders Society
The Founders Society honors the four sisters who founded Saint Joseph’s and permanently recognizes individuals, corporations and foundations whose total giving over time reaches $100,000 or more.
Individuals and groups who were major donors prior to 1983 are featured in the Stations of the Cross exhibit in Saint Joseph’s Philanthropy Center, and in hospital locations that correspond to their gift designations.
Lula Cox McWhorter Society:
Named for Saint Joseph’s first benefactor, this society permanently honors individuals who have included Saint Joseph’s in their estate plans. In doing so, these donors will preserve the hospital’s extraordinary legacy and ensure the Saint Joseph’s experience for all who need it for generations to come.
Sister Stella Maris Society:
Honors the memory of Sister Stella Maris, a Sister of Mercy who faithfully upheld the mission in her service to Saint Joseph’s, and recognizes individuals at the highest level who give $10,000 or more.
The 1880 Society and The 1880 Circle:
Named for the date the Sisters of Mercy initiated hospital care in Atlanta, these programs recognize individuals who give between $5,000 and $9,999 and between $1,000 and $4,999 respectively.
McAuley Society:
Contributions of $500 to $999 are invited to join this society, named for Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy in 1831.
Cecilia Carroll Society:
Any gift of $100 to $499 entitles membership at this level. Cecilia Carroll was one of the four founding sisters of Saint Joseph’s Hospital, originally named the Atlanta Hospital.
Sisters of Mercy Circle:
The Foundation also recognizes consecutive giving, regardless of amount, for 10 or more years.
